Can I get statistics on chart views?

Once you have published your charts, you may want to know how your charts are performing.

Total chart views in past 30 days

The only chart view statistic we offer is the  chart view count from the past 30 days. This is the total number of chart views for all the charts created in teams you belong to. You can access this from the panel on the right side of the Dashboard.

A 'view' refers to a visit to a page where a Datawrapper chart is embedded, and does not take into account things like session duration or whether or not the reader interacted with the chart or scrolled down to see the chart on the embedded page. It's also typically an underestimation, as  ad - blockers  may prevent the counting of a view.

Unfortunately, we don't currently offer per-chart view counts from the Datawrapper UI. If this is important to you, we can personally provide you with a bit more data. In that case, reach out to us at support@datawrapper.de.

Build your own chart view tracker

It would also be possible to build out some tracking on your end, by making use of so-called chart event listeners that are triggered when charts are loaded or interacted with in some way. You can read more about it here in our developer docs. Note that this would require some technical knowledge/resources.

Use Google Analytics to track your views

To track how often your visualizations are viewed, you can include a Google Analytics tracking script in your published visualizations. (This is a free feature for every Datawrapper user.) Learn more about this feature in this article 👉 How to enable Google Analytics for Datawrapper visualizations
