How to embed visualizations in Substack posts

This article is based on Substack's own "How do I embed Datawrapper charts in a Substack post" article.

You write on Substack and want to include Datawrapper visualizations to share insightful data with your readers? Great! In this article, you'll learn how to embed interactive, responsive Datawrapper charts, maps, and tables into Substack posts.

To do so, first publish your final chart, map, or table in  step 4: Publish & Embed. To publish, click the big blue button that says "Publish chart". Once the graphic is published, you get some Share & Embed options.

To embed a chart into your Substack post, you need the "For sharing" URL to your visualization. Make sure that "For sharing" is selected and click on the icon to copy the URL:

Now, go to your Substack draft, and simply paste the sharing link of your Datawrapper visualization where you'd like the chart to appear in your post. That's it! The visualization will automatically load and appear in the draft body and you can change its placement by dragging-and-dropping the preview to the desired spot.

Your readers will be able to interact with the Datawrapper embeds on a web post or in the Substack app, and you can include as many Datawrapper embeds as you like in a single post.

Note: Your Datawrapper visualizations will not be interactive in email newsletters, but appear as static images.
